I saw Snakes On A Plane last night. I actually liked it. I arbitrarily decided “We’ve lost avionics!” was my favorite line. I also liked the snake expert guy.
One thing I didn’t get was why Samuel Jackson didn’t hole up in the cockpit and protect both the witness AND the co-pilot. Once the pilot dies, the co-pilot becomes, far and away, the most important person on the plane. But without the co-pilot dying, you don’t get to see the video game guy land a 747. So I’ll let it slide.
These guys are trying to break the record.
I did the “go-to-every-stop” thing a couple years ago for my short film New Lots.
There are a couple differences between their approach and ours …
- we didn’t optimize our starting point - we just started by my apartment in midtown
- we only had the benefit of one rush hour as we did this over a sunday & monday
- we went through all the tunnels
- we had a rule that the train had to stop at every station (express train whizzing by didn’t count)
- i wrote a computer model to figure out the best route and ran it SETI-style for two weeks, then adjusted it for service advisories.
- when we did it, coney island was shut down. this made brooklyn way harder.
- we were able to time our itinerary such that we hit the Aqueduct Racetrack station, which, i believe, is closed this time of year.
Oh, wait, I mean Shawn Green. I am not sure about this deal. Old, expensive players bother me. Although clearly Lastings Millege is not quite ready yet for the job. On another baseball note, as much as I like Beltran this year, Pujols is clearly the MVP. I don’t like to admit it, but it’s true.
Gary Numan still rules. The old stuff was great. The new stuff was great. The show tonight was just fantastic.
This is the song played by Happy Meal toys in Bulgaria. Oddly enough, the band is from Moldova and the song is in Romanian.
“If someone’s going to cannibalize your business, better it be one of your other businesses”
-Getty CEO Jonathan Klein
… on Getty’s purchase of iStockPhoto.com, which had been selling stock photography at extremely discounted rates. To this point, Getty has controlled 30% of the global market.
from this article in Wired
Strikes me as a CEO who knows how to read the writing on the wall and act accordingly. I think this is a trait which is all too rare
