This is a sad story I read about Bayside Acacia Cemetery in Queens. We passed it on the way to JFK. I’d like to go back and visit during the day sometime. It reminded me of the cemeteries in Prague and Budapest.

I put some of my savings in this mutual fund that focuses on India. I figure if that’s where the jobs are going, my money should follow them. If the returns are half as good in the next 5 years as they’ve been in the last 5 years, i’ll be quite pleased.

I walked from Union Square to JFK Airport again today with a couple folks. Here are the pictures from last year’s walk. I’m trying (with somewhat limited success) to turn this into an annual thing with more people involved.

In other news, here is a Breaking Bonaduce review from Variety:

“In fact, it’s hard to imagine a shower long enough to wash away the experience of simply viewing the show, much less having produced, programmed or participated in it.”

Although a recent episode of the Surreal Life on VH1 that I happened upon featured Balki from Perfect Strangers sobbing like a little girl, it’s not the best reality TV out there. Actually I hate most reality TV. Really, I hate almost all of it. But I am becoming a fan of Breaking Bonaduce. This is a peak inside the home life of the Partridge Family’s Danny Bonaduce.

So get this:
- He starts out battling addictions to sex, drugs and alcohol
- In the second episode, he decides to start taking steroids!
- In the coming episodes, he develops severe anger management problems and falls right off the wagon
- And at some point, he tries to kill himself!

As I predicted many years ago, Reality TV is getting closer and closer to it’s true potential: The Running Man.

From the first season of Survivor, I’d always said that where it would all lead would be an immunity challenge like this:

The host walks onto the beach to meet the 4 remaining contestants. He drops 4 Louisville Sluggers on the sand. “Last one conscious gets immunity. Go!”

Airport Count

I, for some reason, decided to figure out how many world airports I have either taken off from or landed at. I came up with 46. I guess that’s alot.

Most of them I have both landed at and taken off from, except these:

Only Departed: Berlin Tegel, Burbank-CA, Malaga-Spain, Malmo-Sweden, Valdosta-GA
Only Arrived: Brussels, Copenhagen, Klagenfurt-Austria, Madrid, Orlando, Ko Samui-Thailand

UPDATE (9/21): The above total represents airports that I’ve been to and still exist. I’ve changed planes in Denver a couple times, the first of which was at Stapleton International Airport, which was decommisioned in 1995. The next time I changed planes in Denver, it was at the new airport. So including Stapleton brings my total to 47.

From Overheard In New York:

Candidate lady: Hi! I’m running for City Council. I like your shirt. What does the C on it stand for?
Preppy girl: It stands for Crunk.

Oracle is finally buying Siebel. And so ends several years of relentless “who’s gonna buy Siebel?!?!” chit chat.

I sure am glad I didn’t bother getting Oracle CRM training! Aren’t you?
