This news story reminded me of this website.

I’ve learned an important lesson about life. I post it now, on a blog that no one currently reads, in the hopes that maybe if someone stumbles upon it they will be spared a fair amount of grief. The lesson goes like this:

You can mount an NTFS filesystem in Linux (say, an external NTFS USB HDD) - BUT -
no matter what you do, you will never be able to write to it.

As we speak my new 200GB external HDD is being reformatted to ext3. It should be done by Thursday.
